Nagiella augustifolia

orchidnickJune 14, 2013

This belongs to a genus of only 2 species occurring in Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador. Warm to intermediate grower. Purpurea is the common one you see at most orchid shows. Augustifolia is less often see. It looks similar in all ways except the flowers are nearly twice as big. Never remove dead floral stems as they'll rebloom out of the most dead looking stems.

What a lot of blooms, held by a thin stalk.
