A robust large Bulbo from New Guinea warm grower keep it quite wet. Has a large umbrel of flowers, each a little more than 2" in size, the umbrel is 8" across. There is a tag in the lower left corner for size comparison.
This flower took over one month to develop, there are 5 more buds forming which will be far behind the first one but should all bloom at the same time.
A close up of a flower.
The flower is held high on a 10" strong stalk that does not need staking.
This is a sizable plant that requires a little room, that's a 10" shallow pot it's sitting in. I got a cutting from Howard Gunn 5 years ago, first bloom. If you buy small plants, patience is a must.
Wow - I really like the look of that one. Unfortunately, my conditions run a bit cool for most Bulbos, and the humidity can get a bit low in midwinter as well, so I've never experimented much with them.
Love your presentation. Your photos are so clear. Lovely plant.
A better look at the umbrel.
It's hard not to photograph this one. Can't wait when there are 5 umbrels open.
