Prostechea pentotis

I'm sort of 80% sure this is the above. The flowers are very similar to the familiar cockleshell orchid, cochleata, but the main thing about this one is the scent. It is so strong it has been known to give people a headache or make them feel sick - very sweet and sugary. Make sure the room is well ventilated!

Beautiful - I'm curious: how far does the scent emanate from the plant? I really enjoy the coppery-purple tinge of the petals on this one

I like it! Is the scent like radiata ? There sure is a lot of plants in this family that look alike -- radiata, fragrans, chacaoense... it's confusing. There's even one called confusum! It doesn't help that the plant people keep renaming them, too.

How does the plant size compare to cochleata? I love these plants, but no room for a big guy. Very pretty bloom.
