rose breasted grosbeak

Any one seeing these. I see a male from time to time. The female may be here; I'll have to look them up again to see what she looks like. The orioles are going through my jelly. I have several. There are several indigo buntings feeding next to bright yellow goldfinches - very colorful.

I looked this up last year; you'd think I could remember. She is the color of a sparrow. I'll bet if I look closer I'll see a female.

Here is a link that might be useful: grosbeak

We had grosbeaks just move through last year, never stayed, but haven't seen them this year.

DH changed brands of jelly and insulted the orioles....but they came around.

Orioles are fruit eating birds that try to feed at the hummingbird feeder; they also eat grape jelly. Buy the cheap kind because mine have gone through two jars. I see them on the suet also. They don't stay but I have been seeing them every year. I counted six at once but don't know how many total I have.

Ozarkredbird, I just put a blob out on a saucer on a patio table right outside the window where the computer is and watch them come and eat all day. They also feed at the HB feeder on the porch.

Last year I saw one male Rose Breasted GB. This year I saw 3 males and one female. Same with Oriols. Last year one male. This year 3. I think parents bring their offspring back with them. The GBs just pass through and nest further north, but the orioles nest here in NE Ok. My dad had one of the pendulous nests hanging from a tree in his front yard.
