cabbage worm eggs vs. ladybug eggs

jessjamesonMay 23, 2014

Help! Both are little football shaped eggs on the underside of plants. I have a lot of both bugs! I just bought some BT so hopefully I will be ridding my garden of this worm problem soon but I have harvested some swiss chard leaves with a cluster of yellow football shaped eggs on the bottom. I have googled images of both and they seem identical. I kept the leaf with eggs in a jar so either way I guess I will know in 4 days. lol

They aren't identical if you look at them very closely. Your lady bug eggs should be smooth in appearance. Your cabbage worm eggs should have little ridges. You may need a magnifying glass to help you see the ridges. I'll find and link an image of a cabbage worm egg that has been magnified to show the ridges.
