lilacs did NOT bloom

woodsidetrader(PA/6)May 16, 2010

We have about 8 lilacs in different areas of our property. Well established, several different varieties. This year not one of them bloomed. This has never happened before. Anyone have a similar problem? Why???

Did you prune them last year? If they were pruned late in the season last year they would lose all the buds for this year's bloom. Lilacs should be pruned just after they bloom to allow the following year's flowers to develop.
