Dianthus 'Pixie' question

vlf4230(z6 Pa)June 2, 2008

Does anyone here have a Dianthus 'Pixie' and, if so, do you stake it up? I just picked up 2 and they are falling over. From what I have read online I need to keep the base open for air circulation so the stems do not rot. However, if I don't mound it up with mulch or rocks it tends to fall over in a couple different directions. I planted it as it was growing in the pot with the crown at ground level.

I'm wondering if after a few days it will perk up or if I need to do something different.

Thanks,

Jim

Don't mulch it.
Use regular soil to "prop" it up.
I moved some of mine about 2 weeks ago because it was growing into an area I didn't want it to.
It will look sad for awhile, but it will be alright.
It grows slowly also, but looks beautiful after a couple years.
