Keep this going
I've found two snapping turtles -small ones- in my yard this week.
Helen, I am wandering if the tomatoes are going to turn into tasteless water balloons with all this rain. No snapping turtles here that I know of.
I haven't seen any turtles in my yard but a few when I was driving and swerved around a couple toads when I was mowing. : )
I've been trying to make sure there isn't any standing water around for mosquitos to breed in. I'm sure they're finding plenty of water other than in my yard though.
Not a good year for tomatoes.
The only new varmint here was a box turtle heading for the tomato patch. Course they show up each year whether it rains or not.
We seem to be getting 1/4 to 1/2 inch each morning....and it is raining now.
It's so damp that --- my earthworms are doing the backstroke
It's so damp that --- the frogs are wearing swim vests.
Really I was out last night with a flashlight throwing away rotten tomatoes and a big green frog was in the yard not in the little pond where he lives. I had 2.5 more inches in the rain gauge this morning and Beau considers himself a house dog. The ditch has running water like a little creek. Toadstools are growing in my mulch.
It's a banner year for mushrooms and fungi. I love these little things, they are so magical!
Beautiful picture Sandy. When I looked out this morning the thought Emerald Isle came to mind. We are having Washington state weather.
It's so damp, my grandkids think that grandpa is growing red tomato water balloons to throw at each other. Well, I guess they may be right! Love the little people!
It didn't rain today. That is a nice change.
