Cold Hardy Palms in Washington, D.C.

HardyPalmFreak((7b)(Bronx, NY))February 24, 2011

This past weekend I took a road trip to Washington, D.C. to see the sights and museums. I then stumbled upon a planter behind the Air and Space Museum on the mall. In it is a large Trachycarpus Fortunei, two Needle Palms, and five Sabal Minors!

Those palms look great. DC really dodged the cold this winter. Areas to DC's North and South got MUCH colder then the DC did. I bet the sabal palmettos they planted nearby in DC are also alive!
