pinching the growing tip

Some of my passis are just one stem which is twining around its tripod support (e.g. P. Saphire, P. serritifolia, etc..).

Should I pinch the stem to cause it to throw more side shoots? Should I wait until it flowers?

Any help would be appreciated.

No need to wait until flowering. These plants are built so that they will continue to climb till they reach the forest/jungle canopy before flowering. Taking off the growing tip or bending it down in a u shape which is what I often do will produce sideshoots.
