Old Missouri land plat books

I posted this for Pipsydog in the Missourian's Locations thread but I thought some others might be interested too. You can see who owned your land in 1930 and who your neighbors were. Click on your county first. It took me awhile to figure out how to look up my specific area. Let me know if you need help.

Here is a link that might be useful: Plat books of Missouri

interesting It took me a while to get my county maps to show up when I clicked the front page. I don't know what I was doing wrong.

Were you able to find it Helen?
I was able to find land belonging to my grandpa and great grandpa on my dad's side. They owned land north of Springfield. I've always lived in this area and saw a lot of names I recognized of other families that I know have been in this area a long time.
Owning a piece of land was important then. You know a lot of people had to provide food for large families during the 30's using the land that they owned. I can't imagine having to do that. There were nine kids in my dad's family. My poor grandmother must've done a LOT of canning.

Yes. I moved here in the 50's, but the land where I live belonged to my exhusband's grandfather. I found his name on a big square of land. I found my parent's land. They used to call their farm the Hall place.
