My puppies ate my tree peonie at the bottom of the stem. It was only about 60cm tall and in a pot. do you think it will grow back?
If you planted it deep enough it will. However you may not see any thing until next spring as the stem must tell a cell or two to convert from stem to bud cell material. The stem also has cells that convert to root tissue. Just tell your puppies that they were bad but you love them just the same. However if they chew on your plants again no treats.
Are the fruits/berries poisonous? - they look temptingly like large chocolate drops, so I'm concerned re: small grand children being tempted.
No. However depending on age of grand children they should not be allowed in the garden without supervision. If they are old enough to walk they should have already been taught not to put things in their mouths that they do not know. Everyone will put things in their mouths that they do not know but it is your or the parents responsibility to see that they don't.
I have to agree with maifleur, if my garden were limited to plants that were safe to eat, I would have to give up a lot of my favorite plants. Al
