Winter weeds

I saw this link on the OK forum. I am in for lunch and will go out soon. This is an excellent, very clear link on the differences in the winter weeds. It really doesn't matter that much for henbit and dead nettle because I treat them the same. Ground ivy is more of a pest for me because it smothers small plants and is more persistent.

Here is a link that might be useful: how to tell them apart- good illustrations

Well, that was interesting. I definitely have Henbit, as the leaves are not hairy and the flowers are tubular. I haven't noticed either of the other two plants. And here I thought Henbit and Dead Nettle were names for the same plant.

They are in the same genus but different species - very closely related. Also common names vary and are not precise. I can't remember scientific names or pronounce most of them.
