P murucuja

karyn1(7a)June 19, 2007

It looks like one of my P murucuja cuttings will be in bloom in a day or two. I took this cutting in March. It was a 2' bare stem with no foliage. It's filled out into a beautiful plant. This is one of my favorites. I'll post another pic when it opens. It's such a small variety (foliage and stem thickness) but has surprisingly big blooms for it's size.

Cool! they a first glance, look like little rockets or strawberries lol. Looking forward to seeing what the open bloom looks like. Do they have a fragrance?

I think the buds look kind of like rocket pops and the flowers like sombreros. They still haven't opened and I hope those horrid tree rats don't eat them. I've never noticed any fragrance.

I looked it up in Ulmer & Macdougal's book. Its indigenous to Hispanola (Haiti/Dom. Rep.) and Puerto Rico. It really is nice.
