wild passiflora lutea

ledzeppelin24July 22, 2008

i found some passiflora lutea (yellow passion flower) but does anyone know if you can make tea from it like p.edulis or p.incarnata?

I would say no. All Passiflora leaves have toxic substances in them. Safest just to drink commercially prepared Passiflora incarnata tea. Even then there is some suggestion that in excess it may cause uterine contractions. I can only find one reference to Passiflora edulis tea and that may be misidentified.

Here is a link that might be useful: Passiflora toxicology
