Transplanting now

dreamer_gardenerApril 25, 2009

I live in the northeast and my peonies are just poking out of the grown. We are having a fence installed and I dig to dig up the garden. I know this isn't a good time to do but have no choice. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not sure if they are a "tree"....they grown to about 3 ft, so I'm thinking they are not.

If they are just poking out of the ground, they are not tree peonies. If you have to dig them now I guess you have to. They will be alright if you plant them right back in the ground. Try and dig the whole root ball without breaking it up. It may take two people if they have been there for a number of years. Al
