Starting peonies from very small root starts

LovinRoses(7GrtsPassOR)April 28, 2013

I was given many root starts. Do not know the type nor color. I have planted them in 3 gallon pots with good potting soil. Any suggestions on stimulants, fertilizers etc.
I am new to the peony world.

I am assuming you planted one per pot. I would wait for new growth to appear before fertilizing, water as needed to maintain moisture, keep in partial shade to start, moving into more sun as growth hardens. I will usually start small purchased roots in one gallon pots for the first year, planting in the garden in the fall. Al
