Best fruit varietals?

jblaschke(8b TX)August 12, 2005

Obviously, p. edulis is generally considered to have the best-quality passion fruit. But what other passiflora produce good eating-quality fruit? I've read that p. incarnata is decent. Any others? What's the broad experience here?

incarnata wasn't too bad- caerulea is kinda nasty.. Edulis- ya they're good.. Haven't tasted many others.

There is a purple edulis, a yellow edulis, a banana passionflower (mollimissa (sp?)) which are all good for hotter climates and incarnata for northern growers. Of course you can grow the tropicals and over winter in cooler climates as well. Taste is a preference but I think most people like the edulis varieties.
