Amazing Video of Palms In Denmark

Kokomo-JBMarch 13, 2013

Amazing videos of unprotected palms living in what I can only venture to guess is a zone 5 climate. I'm sure most of you have seen these vids. I'm posting the links in the off chance that some of you haven't.

Didn't get a chance to see you video yet but Denmark is much milder than you think. Hundreds of miles north of me and it is still zone 7 (Copenhagen).

Big difference though!! They have very little heat in the growing season, so the best palms would be those that have lower heat demands (Trachys for example). Cold hardy Sabals and Needles would suffer though.

somewhat more accurate
still, large parts of coastal Denmark are solidly zn 8; Copenhagen's record low is 0F which is better than all but a handful of locations north of the NC/VA state line. Even in Gdansk, south of a part of the Baltic which can partly freeze, the all time record low is only -10F..."warmer" than Washington, DC's. This isn't to say, as NJoasis points out, that every subtropical plant will be easy to grew in coastal NW Europe.
