Tree peony wilt then death of branches- why?
Iv'e been looking around here for an answer to a problem I have been having with my 3 Japanese tree peonys through the last few years. Usually it is in the early spring that the leaves open and branches lengthen and the suddenly a sinlge branch (usually) will wilt and flop over and eventually dry and drop. Sometimes the leaves don't even get to open before this happens- and it has happen a couple of times after blooming too. No pests are seen- no molds- or fungus noted- It is not "cracked" or broken- just limp- It does not affect the whole plant or even the whole branch- just the new green growth of one bud. It is not overwatering- it can't be heat (MN in spring is not hot enough!)- I just don't get it! What do you think is happening?
Thanks for your help!
