peony seeds

pembroke(6--Louisville KY)July 21, 2012

what do peony seeds look like. I let some go this year and was told to let them dry up and as they open up take seed and plant in garden now. I looked today and the pods were somewhat open but I didn't see anything I thought were seeds. Maybe tooooo HOT for seed to form in my area? Thanks for all your info on this. Pembroke

There are often a lot of seed pods that won't contain any seeds. I don't know if it is the particular cultivar, or if it is weather related, or possibly pollination related.

Below is a link to what actual peony seeds should look like. If I remember correctly, they are somewhat smaller than a pea.
