How deep will their roots grow?

rjingaAugust 7, 2008

I've got a big huge container to put mine in, but I'd really prefer not to fill it up with (expensive) potting mix, unless necessary.

I guess I need to have a better understanding of how big their roots will get. I'd also prefer to fill it up, IF over time the roots will fill it up, so as to avoid having to transplant later.

You will need to fill the container top to bottom with the same mix. Over time your peony will grow very large roots and need all the space and good mix your container can provide. Al
