Joshua tree/ Palm ???? Help!

I am currently Living in Mississippi and I noticed in the woods near my house the are a lot of plants growing that look similar to a joshua tree it has green long pointed or spiked leaves kind of but not really like a palm..does anyone have a clue what this is Thanks

Its very likely a type of yucca. Do you have any pics. There are lots of different types of yuccas, but none fall in the category of a palm tree.
