This question has probably been asked many times..so please forgive me for inquiring one more time....

Should I remove the green pods that have formed on top of my peonies?

This late in the season if you wish toto leave the seed pods on until they open. You may or may not have seeds. If you do have seeds plant them immediately. They take a long time to germinate so plant in a spot that you can mark and won't disturb for a while. Some seeds take up to two years for a plant to appear above ground.

The plant will not be the same as the parent but you could then say, in truth, this is my peony from my own plant.

Next year if you wish to prevent the seed pods cut the bloom stalk just above the top leaf.

Thank you Maifleur :)
I may try the seeds (if there are some in the pods).
Should I have removed the pods when they first began to form ? (For future reference)

Depending on who you ask it is a personal choice. I would remove the spent blooms right after flowering on new plants. This would divert the energy expended on forming seeds to the roots. However on older plants AND depending on the cultivar it is up to you. Some of the species have beautiful seed pods, P vetchii is one, and I would hesitate to remove an additional source of beauty.
