Peach Borer Prevention

Help!

Ok short background. Wife was give a cherry tree about 4 years ago as a memorial for someone who passed. Last year it got destroyed by peach borers. This was the second cherry tree this happened to for us in this area(the other was at previous residence). What is the best way to protect these cherry trees? The previous was a sour cherry tree that we never got to eat any fruit from (it only produces a few cherries as it was very young). This one is a fruitless tree (kwanzan). Would it still be susceptible to the borers? It;s still in the bucket.

Thanks for any tips!

also.. there is a very active fruit forum .... as a source of other .. more specific experts ...

as compared to other trees.. fruit are very short lived.. and require massive preventative sprayings.. 3 to 5 times per year .... though sour/tart cherry is usually not one of the foo foo ones ....

but that said .... i would never have used a fruit as a memorial ....

perhaps .. an alternative is to replace the next one with some other tree ... but you will cross that road some other time ...

i wish you luck
