cluster brown droppings? Or cocoons?

olayakMarch 9, 2013

Hi,
We went to see a house we are considering buying. In two of the rooms there were clusters of about 8 brown/black pellets in the corners of the walls, near the ceiling. Not on a ledge, they were actually STUCK to the wall. There were also what looked like a dry/crumbled version of the same on the floors, but in other places in the rooms. It was only in two of the rooms of the house. The rest were untouched. This is a gorgeous house and we are seriously considering buying it, but I want to know what kind of pest problem it may be before we move forward. Does anyone have an idea? It could be a cocoon of a bug, too. I'm a city person, I have no idea. They are about rabbit pellet sized, except oblong and brownish/black and STUCK to the corners of the walls by the ceiling.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Kathy

when i moved to the country.. these at the link were in the barn ...

they are still there.. the mud having a half life of forever ...

but the wasp is gone ... in fact .. in 12 years.. never saw another nest made ... i always wondered if they had something to do with the horses that lived here previously .... how long has the house been vacant???

its really hard to advise you w/o a pic ... but a couple of these.. would not stop me from buying an otherwise great house...

Cockroach oothecae? That's the first thing that I thought of.
