Hi everyone, been a while since I've posted but I'm wondering when is it time to start a fall garden and what can you plant in a fall garden? Also, where do you get tomato plants this time of year. Thanks.
Depending on where you are in Oklahoma, the recommended planting date is already past for some things but there's still lots of time to plant other items or to take a chance on a late planting for those items whose recommended planting dateas has come and gone.
I'm going to link a previous thread that has both a sequential calendar and then within that thread there's a link to the OSU Fall Garden guide.
You can plant almost anything as long as you chose varieties that have the kinds of DTMs that will allow them to mature before the date of your first average freeze.
Tomato plants usually are available at nurseries and sometimes in the garden centers of big box stores. If you're near Jenks, the Tomatoman's Daughter is open on weekends for another week or two to sell fall tomatoes and a few other veggie transplants for the fall garden. Sometimes you can find them at Farmer's Markets at this time of the year too if the market you frequent has someone who sells transplants.
There's been a lot of discussion of fall planting during the last month or so. If you do a forum search, it should pull up those threads.
