Bugs on mulberry tree

nursenadineApril 18, 2010

I have a three-year-old mulberry bush. From the research I have done I believe it to be a black mulberry bush. This is the first year it has bourne fruit. I have extremely small insects living in the mulberries. I can't take a good picture of them as they are so small. They look like small specks of sawdust. Any idea of what they are or how to get rid of them? If you soak the berries for a half hour the insects die and come to the surface, otherwise just rinsing the berries causes them to hide in the crevices of the berries.

This is just a guess, but an educated one: thrips are VERY common in mulberries.
