Please help me identify these problems with my veges.

Hello,

I have been growing for a couple of years with varied success but i need some help to identify some problems, so i have taken a pic of some leaves.

I hope someone here can help - the US site has so much more info than the Aussie sites!

This is a silverbeet leaf. Probably half of my plants show this and the plants are stunted and not doing well.

if i am coming into spring..

arent you going into late fall ...

were they planted in the proper planting season ... if not .. that could be why they are stunted .. going into fall ...

thanks mate, it could be that simple but...

silverbeet does pretty well in the garden here year round, and i have other plants in the same patch as these doing ok, but then there are a few showing the symptoms on leaf in the pic.

does that pic tell any story of fungal or viral infection i wonder?

thanks again for your help.

i kinda figured it was an overwinter crop.. but i had to make sure...

hey.. thats the first time i have ever been called 'mate' .. lol ...

i am sure.. sooner or later.. others peeps will give you an ID ...

i was just going the 'cultural' route.. rather than the 'disease' route

goony, "Silver beet is not seriously affected by plant
diseases. Cercospora leaf spot (Cercospora
beticola Sacc.) is the most common fungal disease.
It produces light grey spots with brown margins on
the older leaves. These spots fall out and create
holes in the leaves."
Copied off this SITE. I found it very informative.

Thanks for that link, funnily enough from an Australian government website! Cheers, JD.
