Roots Of A Big Bhut

Completely filled the pot. Much more depth than the ones I dug out yesterday from the ground. Hopefully the new roots will go deeper than the previous ones.

I don't see any roots. This probably means that it could stay in that pot longer.

It was full of small roots, a lot like what I saw on the surface with the in-ground ones. Fine hair-like roots, with some larger to the center. I think these develop a root "mat" for support instead of a long tap root like many other plants. The in-ground plants had "mats" spreading to the extent of the raised bed, under the mulch.
I've been watching the root systems develop on Bhuts that I have in clear cups, and it's dramatically different than the other species I have planted. Much slower development...

Correct, there's no tap root on peppers. The larger roots do go relatively deep if they can, but most are the finer ones you're seeing.
