I really need a source for the net type bags you use to strain jelly when you are canning it. Can anyone recommend a place to order the jelly making supply's?
TIA for your help!
You can order them from lots of places, including Amazon.com, kitchenkrafts.com and Canning Pantry, which I've linked below.
Here is a link that might be useful: Canning Pantry
Thanks Dawn! Is there anything you can't get from Amazon, LOL!!
Klo, you can also use a regular collander and line it with a coffee filter to strain the juice for the final time. It's a bit slow, but will give you crystal-clear jelly, and the filters are cheap. If you have an old pair of nylons or pantyhose (does anyone wear those things any more?) you can cut them and use them to strain the juice also. And then there's basic old cheesecloth, available nearly anyplace, for the initial straining to get out seeds and skins.
I've tried the cheesecloth and for what I'm doing it really doesn't work very well. I cold brew coffee and need to strain the grounds out of the coffee. I've been using a double layer of cheesecloth then using the coffee filters but it takes a very long time and a lot of filters to do it this way. Just looking for a faster and less messy way to get it done! Had a brainstorm on night about using the jelly staining bags.
