Weird Pink Mold Around Strawberry Plants

mledoux13June 21, 2012

I've noticed these weird pink-colored spores around my strawberry plants. They are rubbery and soft. I pulled a few away with a hand spade and popped. They are filled with a hot pink fluid - looks sort of like calomine lotion.

Any ideas?

An interesting fungus of sorts which won't damage you or your plants.

Thanks to jean001a - her use of the word fungus sent me on my way. Happy to find out that Wolf's Milk Slime Mold (Lycogala epidendrum) poses no risk to the plant or humans.

Thanks again,

That's a new one on me....I've seen lots of slime 'molds' in my day but never that one. Some people have ALL the luck, lol.
