I got Twin in Rocoto Container

chilliwin(EU DK 7)April 22, 2013

This is Rocoto De Seda one of my best seedlings. I am not talking about the Rocoto but the little one.

I have bought some organic apple and one of them had already sprouted seed inside. The apple was fresh, nothing wrong. I have seen this before but I never thought to plant it. This time I sowed it in the Rocoto De Seda container. I did not expect it will grow, but today I found like this, still it has the seed case. I do not know the roots under the soil.

Sorry for posting in the chili forum.

The Twin

A bit clearer one

Yeah that's cool and strange, looks to be one seed with two tap roots. Wonder if they are fused together further up or you got a two for one. Once the seed shell drops pics again.

I had several seeds from commercial Manzano seeds sprout 2 roots then have 2 separate tops when the shell dropped off this season.
It looked like I was going to get a double rooted plant but it ended up that I got 2,twin plants from 1 seed.
It never happened before until this year.
All seeds were from commercially grown Yellow,orange/Yellow or orange pods.
Maybe commercial pods are some kind of Hybrid...RocotoX or color X.
I don't know.
Won't know until I grow F2 or older plants from isolated seeds in years to come.

Several seeds have more than 1 embryo per seed.
Limes are one I can think of offhand.
I think apples might have more than 1 embryo too,I'm not positive.

The baby twin Manzano sprouts are doing Ok so far.
