For a pop up volunteer that has rushed to this size w/out a whole lot of feeding, i find myself amazed & most certainly delighted to have this cold hardy sabal in our landscape. I've mentioned before that i don't remember how many years ago that i noticed the seedling but seemed very fast for s.palmetto.

One of my cousins trachycarpus is gett'in up there.

And his med palm is a beauty also.

After Sunday's rain shower. We needed it bad!

On these hot summer days it's a pleasure sitt'in out there on our pier only if there's a nice stiff sea breeze!

Not much chance of that, seed surely came from our three other s.palmetto. Thanks

Hey dixieboy,
Sorry for the late responce. You just have the perfect growing condictions for palms,LOL.That little bit of soil you sent me with those Butia seedlings was very rich in nutrients with just enough sand for good drainage.Love the pics.as always.

Thanks Randy, that was mostly old rotted leaf matter where the seedlings had come up.

Awesome pics as always! They are so southern! That sabal is beautiful and that pier looks like paradise! I'd probably put a few potted palms by the edge of it, and a few chairs, and sit there all day long!
Thanks for sharing, great pics!

Laura, any landfall of MB & north puts the biggest part of our community under tidal surge & so we don't fare to good here during those times. We don't stay here in storms of this size & will go inland & stay at our daughters & pray for the best.
We had our house raised after 'floyd' & tide water shouldn't be a problem com'in in, trees are another story!
NC is one of the magnet states! Thanks for any prayers on our behalf!

Carl,

Prayers are headed your way and keep them sending them up our way as well! We are always on the target area since we have that natural jetty that sticks out here at Cape Hatterus. They always seem to follow up that pattern and then either hit VB or we get the back quadrant of those nasty beast!

The tidal flooding is the worst problem. I hope you fare well and i'll be watching for your area. Where are you close to? Topsail? Wrightsville?

My thoughts and prayers are with you as always....

Take care ,
