Dypsis leptocheilos - Teddy Bear Palm questions

SurfCityPalmsAugust 15, 2011

Hey All! I live in Huntington Beach, CA, about 3 miles from the beach, zone 9b-10a.

I have a couple smaller Dypsis leptocheilos and was wondering if anyone has an idea of when I can plant them in the ground in 1/2 day sun (8am-12pm sun). To give you an idea of my climate, I can plant a 2-3 foot Kenta in the about the same sun, actually a bit longer sun, and it won't burn.

Any opinion is welcome,

Thank you in advance,

Jerod

Hi! I'm thinking you can plant them in 1/2 day sun with no problem at all. It grows well in coastal SoCal. If you're in HB you're in Zone 10a-10b, not 9b. Good luck! it's a great palm that provides a super tropical touch :)
