strange red and white striped bug on sunflower

id this bug for me please! idk if it is harmful to my sunflowers but the seem to be collinized around the bud. in the pic you can see the bug and it doesnt seem to be eating any of the leaves that i can notice, theyve been on the plant since it was 6' inches tall. but they were not here last year. any information about this bug could be useful thank you!
