Mystery 'Damage'/Bird or Insect???

gardenlady48(z5 IL)July 29, 2012

The photos show bloom stems w/the tips being 'nipped' on my Prairie Dock & Compass plant. Last year we saw this same thing on our Cup plants and other sunflowers...I cant tell what PEST is doing this! I never get to see the blooms on our sunflowers.....what's going on????

i usually have leader damage on my picea pungens.. blue spruce..

due to the robins INSISTING on perching on the highest tip of the plant ... the grackles also ...

and it is slightly entertaining to see them do it in a wind storm..
