ID Red Nymphs?

shawnannAugust 23, 2010

I've seen red nymphs that are assasin bugs, and red nymphs that are leaf footed somethings, not sure how to tell these red nymphs apart. Do you know what they are? Thanks in advance! I just don't want to go squishing everything if I don't know if it is good or bad. I think they are living in that cucumber with a hole in it. They are on the cucumbers.

This one pops up every so often. Looks like wheel bug nymph, a predator that does good work in the garden.

I think I'll take that back - forgot that leaf footed bug nymphs were ALL red. I think you got it right.

I was always told that when they are numerous in numbers that they were most likely bad bugs. I've been seeing them in my garden everyday for the last couple of days and I have seen alot of stink bugs in the area lately.

Your images are those of the leaffooted bug nymph. They have red bodies and black legs. The wheelbug nymph has a black head and thorax, red abdomen, black legs.

Sorry, but you won't be seeing the battle of the bugs any time soon. ;-(
