Emerald Spreader Yew

cubanlillyAugust 10, 2011

Hello all!

I planted this Emerald Spreader earlier this summer after being told by the garden center that this was a great shade shrub. It doesn't seem to be doing too hot and I'm wondering how to nurse it back to life or what the problem might be. It has been a record breaking summer here as far as heat and I've tried my best to keep things moist (I water probably 3 times a week with a soaker hose). Is that enough? Is it diseased? What do you ya'll think?

I'm betting that most of it is the heat, but I recommend that you post this in the Shrub forum with a couple more pictures; lots of shrub experts there.

The only way to know if there is enough or too much water is by sticking your index finger into the rootball down to about the second knuckle. Water deeply when dry then nothing until dry again.
