Can someone please help me identify these pests on my eggplant leaves?
That looks an awful lot like the larva of the Colorado Potato Beetle which will also munch on Eggplant which is in the same family as potatoes. Bacillus thuringiensis - San Diego is a good insecticide to use if there are too many tro control by hand.
It is a potato bug larvae, but it is the larvae of the false potato beetle not the Colorado potato beetle. Both look the same except for color. Both have those distinctive spots on the sides and both are distructive to vegetables. However the Colorado potato larvae is orange and the false potato beetle larvae is white.
Anything that kills one will kill the other so follow kimmsr's advice
Thanks for replies.
Another clue to the ID of this insect is the single row of spots along the abdomen. The 'real' potato beetle has a double row.
