Succulent: Black insect ID

a_shau(San Francisco 8b)September 29, 2013

I found these two guys on each of my succulents. Anyone have any ideas what it might be and if they're harmful to plants? They are small - less than 1 cm, black with what appear to be yellow stripes. They are definitely insects and not spiders.

and:

Thanks!

There are many different kinds of ladybugs and I'm guessing that these are the larvae of a ladybug. If you have an opportunity to observe these little guys for awhile, perhaps you'll catch them at their job....eating small, soft bodied pests and insect eggs.
