Hi found these covering my last tomato plant.YUCK!!!..What on earth are they? are the toms still ok to eat?

wasp eggs I'm leaning towards??? Im not seeing any hornworms like other pics are showing ...destroy or let hatch?

Let hatch, unless you want to feed voracious hornworms in the future.

Wasp -- the beneficial kind - pupa cases. Not a yuck. Instead, worth 3 cheers for the good guys.

They'll overwinter and emerge in the Spring.

I'm not sure that I've ever seen these parasitic pupa 'at large '.....and not attached to a host.

thanks everyone ...Wahoo for wasps!! Not seeing the hornworms threw me off too ..I didnt see any this year(hornworms)..and there were a lot of other leaves that looked like this on the plant no sign of worms anywhere I even went out again and checked... Will they try and nest in my pots for the winter a few fell off into my pots?

they will overwinter.... ONLY if OP leaves a dead rotting tomato plant there all winter .... most of us do fall cleanup ....

or are you suggesting he should leave it there ...

if so.. when will they emerge in spring???? ... will he have already planted the new plants among the dead foliage ...
