Survivors

Phildeez(9b)May 5, 2011

I have some peppers that survived extreme stress recently. I do not know if it was an herbicide or the sudden heat wave or spider mites but I know that the ones that died died fast and the ones left seem to be doing alright.

However, a few have produced tight wads of new leaves/buds on their growth tips. In about a half inch, knotted ball I can make out 3-4 flower buds and as many leaves, it does not look like normal growth.

My question is, should I clip these masses of knotted growth and buds off and attribute them to stress? Or, should I leave them be in hopes that they self-correct?

Thanks

-Phil

I would clip the buds off and allow the plant to focus on upward and outward growth.

I would normally clip the buds, but in this case I would have to clip the whole ball of leaves and buds. I did it on one of them to see how it grows and ill let the others go and see if they continue to distort. Wish I knew what caused the distorted tops, it seems common in my peppers.

Hey, Phil!

As the buds extend and separate from the cluster, snip them off.
