Bug id please

I posted on another forum and it was suggested I post here. Found this fellow while planting. I thought he was dead but really perked up when I handled him. Some suggestions were made as to what he is but nothing fully matches. His antenna are longish and end in a dot that matches the color on the back. Thanks so much!

I think that it is a Sexton beetle...there are several species of these important beetles, some of which appear to be very much like yours. Scroll down through the attached image link.
