I can't figure out what is doing this to the new fruit on my dwarf nectarine. Any thoughts? The leaves have no problems. Thanks
What kind of animals do you have in your location? Possums, rats, maybe even fruit bats are what I'm thinking.
I've been looking at that photo too, and waiting for someone more knowledgeable of your area to get back to you...
From the damage to the fruit, I would suspect some kind of animal or bird over insect, and would first guess something with teeth and not beak...but it's only a guess. Have you seen any kind of activity in the tree? Rodents or animals common to your climate and location?
If you aren't seeing anything in the daytime, going out at night with a flashlight and looking can be helpful.
Same time of year, same problem! I never did figure it out and I lost about half my fruit.
Here it is again this year. Same problem you can see.
This is the only bug I located. I have no idea what it is or if it is the culprit.
We don't have possums or fruit bats in my area, I live in inner Perth. Maybe rats, but I have never seen any and I have two cats. I might try some netting unless anyone has a better idea?
