Hi, i have this palm growing around the corner from my house and i was just wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what type of palm it is.
i think its a date palm but just wondering what type.
I'm pretty sure that this is a Canary Island date palm.
They are somewhat common in Central Florida.
thats what i thought.
Under the palm there seems to be seedlings growing from dropped seed. but im not sure.
they look a long thick single blade of grass, Are these ok to remove and place in a pot?
I would wait until there are a few "blades" and there's a little bit of a base forming to allow them to start developing a root system. At the single blade stage, they may only have 1 or 2 roots that if broken, would mean the plant dies.
It looks like there's a couple more of those palms planted along the fence. Are those your palms or somebody else's? If yours, I would move the two small ones planted along the fence. Those palms get huge, and to have 3 of them planted so close together is not a good idea.
Thanks for the advice.
No, these are not my palms, you cannot see it in this photo but there are more planting underneath all the trees on this lot, some are less then 2 feet apart. its quite insane lol
