Sedum (Autumn Joy) Divisions?

rkapolkaFebruary 21, 2007

My sedums are beginning to pop out of the ground and they have grown appreciably since last fall. Can you take divisions of sedums like you can with other plants or are they too fragile at this point to mess with? I've got the bug to get started. Temp is in the 40's after several weeks of below freezing temps.

Ken is sooo right! When I lived in Texas someone gave me a couple pieces of their Autumn Joy sedum. I was in a rush to get to work so I just tossed them in an old window flower box and forgot about them till the next summer rolled around. I didn't plant them or anything. But that next summer my window box was full of Autumn Joy and pieces that had broken off and fallen into the flower bed below the box had rooted as well. I'd say go for it!

That sounds like a plant that I can learn to enjoy. Thanks for the push.
