What's the best rooting hormone?
What do you think is the most effective rooting hormone for rooting hard to root tree cuttings (hardwood twigs)?
I'm wanting to root some sentimental trees, and also a rare weeping mutation Eastern Red ceder I found.
Trees to root this late winter:
Eastern Red ceder (Juniperus virginiana) (for sure)
Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) (for sure)
Red maple (Acer rubrum) (maybe)
Southern Red Oak (Quercus falcata) (might be extremely hard, but Oaks have been rooted before)
I think all these tree above require about 0.8% IBA to root good. (Oak might need more)
I might buy 2 or 3 rooting hormone products to try out, and see what works best. But what would you think is the best rooting hormone from the below list? Or if there's any thing better than what I found below, let me know.
>CLONEX RED Rooting Hormone Gel Contains 0.8% Indole-3-Butyric Acid
>Hormodin #3 powder Contains 0.8% Indole-3-Butyric Acid
> Dip 'N Grow gel or liquid concentrate which is better? I think it Contains 0.10% Indole-3-Butyric Acid. Manually diluted to needs.
>RHIZOPON AA #3 Dry Powder Rooting Hormone
>Rhizopon AA Water Soluble Tablets
>Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts
Any help would be appreciated.
