Phlox cuttings now?

I was reading through a thread on this forum and someone was talking about taking phlox cuttings now. You can take them at this time of year?

Division might be easier and less messy once the ground thaws out. I presume you still might have snow on the ground?

Here in zone 9 phlox are only a week or two out of the dormant period and far too early to think of taking cuttings. Al
