blending slow release fertilizer

number3April 19, 2012

Hello, I have a question about fertilizer blending. These are hypothetical numbers to confirm my thoughts about blending.

Pretending I have three 50 pound bags of granular fertilizer that are

0-0-6

0-6-0

6-0-0

Each has an application rate of one pound per 1000SQF.

If I were to blend these three together I would end up with a 2-2-2?

If I were to increase the dosage to 1 pound per 1000SQF I would have a 6-6-6?

Feedback is appreciated

Sorry, the second question should say

If I were to increase the dosage to 3 pounds per 1000SQF I would have a 6-6-6?

The amount of the product nothing to do with the analysis. If you mix 2 OUNCES (each) of those three imaginary fertilizers together, you will have 6 ounces of 6-6-6.

If you were to mix a TON of each, you'll have three tons of 6-6-6.

Take your imaginary 6-0-0, for example. Whether you are adding one pound or 50 pounds per 1000...it's still 6 pounds of actual Nitrogen per 1000.

...Make that 6 pounds of actual N per unit (pound, ounce, ton)....not per 1000 sq.ft. Sorry!
